What
is Life Coaching?
Self-belief, confidence and being in control of your life are
key to achieving your goals and dreams. As a client you will
learn new and fun ways to create your ideal future – the key areas of focus are Life Skills, People Skills and
Sales Skills.
As I see it, life coaching aims to help you achieve clarity and confidence
to work through issues that are holding you back from enjoying a challenging
and harmonious life. Life coaching is not about making simplistic judgements
about someone's life and telling them how they ought to live it.
Personal experience and social research have shown that people are the sum
of their genes, their cumulative experiences and the circumstances in which
they live their lives. I believe, therefore, that successful coaching has to
be based on an understanding of all these factors and not just focus on superficial
behaviours. For me, then, effective, authentic coaching is based on the following
five principles:
• a shared feeling of trust and empathy between client and coach
• a relationship of equality between client and coach
• a desire on the client's part to focus on the future, while acknowledging the
effects of the past
• a willingness by the client to work through challenging issues towards empowerment,
self-confidence and a happier, more productive life
• a belief in people's ability to accept themselves and yet make changes that
will improve their lives. |

How
I work?
I work with my clients,
in person, face to face. The vast majority of other life coaches
work either by phone or email. I believe, however, that working
through issues in person helps develop a relationship of trust,
honesty and openness in a calm, safe environment. I do occasionally
work with clients by phone, usually in-between sessions or when
they are too far away to meet in person. Sessions last
1½ hours.
I see private clients here in Wind Street, Swansea City Centre
and I also work with corporate clients on-site. Occasionally
I will meet individual clients in Bridgend's Esporta Club, if the
logistics are too complicated to meet in my office.
As my client, you would not be required to commit to a set number of sessions
in advance. Rather, you would be completely free to make decisions about how
often you would want to meet based on how you feel and your individual circumstances.
I see some clients weekly, some monthly and others on an ad-hoc basis. In some
cases, clients will choose to come weekly when we first start working together
then move towards more spaced appointments as we progress. The total length
of time we work together will depend on the complexity of issues involved and
your particular needs.
If you were interested in working with me, we would arrange a mutually convenient
appointment after an initial email or phone enquiry and then take it from there.
As a client, your only commitment would be to come to each session prepared
to be open and willing to confront issues honestly.
Who I work with - life coach clients
As your
coach, I will listen to you, value you and help you sort through
whatever issues are troubling you.
I work with clients from all walks of life who are facing many different issues
and who are not satisfied with the status quo.
They want to feel differently about their
lives and their future, and they are willing to examine what
really matters to them.
Among my clients are individuals who are:
• seeking clarity and resolution
• evaluating their life/career options
• facing difficult career choices
• having relationship concerns
• seeking to gain deeper self-understanding and acceptance
• determined to make the most out of life |
